Pocket depth relative to the inseam matters more than pocket size. A pocket that extends below the hem line means the phone is held partly by fabric that has no support beneath it, which is why some pockets feel like the phone is hanging off the edge of the garment. Look at where the bottom of the pocket sits relative to the hem โ€” a pocket that finishes well above the hem is anchored on both sides.

Waistband width changes how much the sag shows. A wide waistband โ€” 4 to 6cm โ€” distributes the point load over more elastic and resists asymmetric pull far better than a narrow one. Drawcords do not fix it. The instinct with a sagging waistband is to tighten the cord.
